Our Memphis office recently participated in the annual Kick It 5k, benefiting the Herb Kosten Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation on Sunday, April 8th at Shelby Farms Park. The goal was to raise $150,000 this year towards awareness and fund pancreatic cancer research at the University of Tennessee Health Science center. Capital Financial Group was a bronze sponsor of the event.
The day of the event was a little chilly, but our team, the Tumornators, didn’t back down because they were running in honor of three close family members who are currently battling or battled pancreatic cancer. We exceeded our goal of 10 runners, and had a ton of office support, with our Elizabeth Key being a great cheerleader! “The event was a great success!” said Lane Arthur who spearheaded the event, “We really had a lot of fun, and we were happy to participate in something so close to our hearts”. The group ran in honor of Julie Ann Doan, (Elizabeth Key’s aunt and Derek Morris’ mother-in-law) and in memory of Martha Ann Wingfield (Lane Arthur’s mother. Over 35 employees and family members joined at the event to run and cheer the runners on and next year our goal will be even more participation.
