Capital Financial Group was a presenting sponsor for the Memphis Business Journal’s event highlighting Family Owned Businesses on Monday August 27th at the Marriott Memphis East. The event highlighted strategies and best practices by some of the strongest family owned businesses in Memphis around key matters unique to them.
The event began with a breakfast and networking session followed by a panel of key members of local family owned businesses. Panelists included Ford Canale of Canale Funeral Directors, Lauren McHugh Robinson of Huey's Restaurants, Spence Wilson Jr. of Kemmons Wilson Companies. Andy Shull of Capital Financial Group was the moderator and brought up topics around family matters, key employees, succession planning, wealth diversification and workforce. The points made around planning for the future of their business was of particular interest to the over 100 local business leaders in attendance.
The event was met with great praise and many asked when there would be another of these events directed at family businesses. Family businesses are an integral part of the local economy and the backbone of every community’s social and business fabric. “It was incredible to see so many of Memphis’ top business leaders assembled in one room to discuss issues impacting the family-owned business. The panelists were outstanding. It was a great morning!,” stated Andy Shull, Director of Planning. From succession planning and intergenerational conflict resolution to business valuation, the Memphis Business Journal and Capital Financial Group shone a spotlight on the strategies and best practices of the strongest family-owned businesses in Memphis and hopes to host more events like this in the future.
